SÜDLICHE FURTH

The urban design proposal of ‘Südliche Furth’ is based on the winning project of a competition organized by the land North-Rhine-Westphalia in 2003. The project is financially supported by the German federal government and subsidized by the land NRW. As a kind of inner-city, between periphery and city-centre, the project transforms the challenges such as noise, traffic-bridge, railway and industry in identity, urban and architectural design. A new, central place to live with light, air and green spaces emerges and provides urban qualities of life and for living. Principles of sustainable development – implying diversity and flexibility – are put into practice. The inner-urban concept, integrates a wide range of differentiation and compilation of new forms of living.
